Why Doc Martens Are So Expensive | So Expensive

23 751
When Doc Martens first appeared in the UK, in 1960, they were working boots that would cost you under $3 a pair. These days, a pair of Made in England boots could set you back $225. So, what has changed? And why are these shoes now so expensive?

Hey gotta make the quality shit so they can keep profiting from consumers. If one pair lasts 30 years they ain’t gonna earn shit.

I find english made Norman walsh trainers cooler more comfy with more designs and slightly cheaper. Docs are very good qualirt just not as comfy as Norman walsh trainers in my view.

I have worked for them and let me tell you the margins on these are insane. I am not talking about the fully hand made "made in England" collection but the mass produced lines in factories all over Asia are very different quality and have very, very high profit margins.

Last me only 6 months and after leather was broken. Did warranty exchange in the shop. And after 4 months get broken again. So after I give up on Dr. brand and get a a Solovair and happily using for 2 years still looks like new. Next want to try Redwings but I guess I have to wait for long time until my Solovair will break 😅

I dont find them expensive at all when they last for years and years without repair. Especially when Nike airforces and alike last a year or two at most for 120$.

lol I want doc martens so badly, like I can afford them but I have big feet for a 13 year old, so any boots look terribly ugly and strange on me lmao, so I kinda just wear 1 pair of sneakers a year and there we go.

My friend bought a pair of oxblood 1460s in December 1974 and they cost him £12 UK. Depending on which inflation calculator you use, that translates to around £120 in today's money. I have a pair of black Chinese 1460s. I've walked hundreds of miles in them and they're still my preferred boot for the rain.

Buy Solovairs, they the original manufacturers of Docs who still make the authentic boots entirely in the UK.

Comfortable foot wear, more like blisters that will leave you scars for the rest of ur life. But fashion is more important

My mom gave me her old docs some time ago. They are about 20 years old and still are in a very good shape. I've been wearing them since middle school and they are probably the most comfortable shoes i own

The imports are garbage, and the UK made ones are close to garbage. Their quality is no where close to what it used to be. I won't even buy them anymore.
